Well tonight i ventured out to Art’s Poetica on at Toorak’s Merry Herring Hall.
It was quite good with an interesting and sometimes funny story-line, a love triangle as well as a few jokes tossed to make the all round good production.
The Piano accompaniment was really good, and serves as a complement to Liz’s outstanding musical skill’s.
in other news i have been busy, sometimes with school work and at other times with some of my little project’s. like Smoothwall_NUT
The last few days have been interesting.
i have found myself getting more and more focused on work at school, as well as thinking more towards the future.
In other news i got the D-Link adsl modem back from D-Link today after they re-flashed it after Optus screwed it up with a remote reboot.
Something interesting to ponder, yesterday around 8pm Victoria (my sister) wondered into my room to let me know that the printer had run out of ink, and she needed to print an assignment for the next day.
at first a just suggested that she just print it out tomorrow from school, however that would have probably have ended in disaster so after a little persuasion i made the arduous trip out to the local Office Works (Frankston) to pick up some new cartridges.
Upon getting to the store, i was confronted with the high prices of the “older” canon print cartridges. almost $55 for the B/W and $60 for the Color.
After pondering for a little while i decided that it was probably a better idea to just get a new printer than pay the $115 for the 2 print cartridges. (the printer was old and slow before anyway)
In the end i walked out of the store with a $199 Canon i560, Bubble-Jet Printer under my arm, Complete with removable individual ink tanks and both Parallel and USB port’s (Parallel are hard to come buy these days).
Its really a sick printer, very reasonable for the $199 that i paid for it, and it even has a Print direct port on the front of it for connecting up to canon camera’s to print directly to it without a computer.
The 4*6’s that it creates are absolutely stunning, looking as though they are fresh from the Photo Lab.
Anyway im off now to Watch Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares catch you all later.
Just a quick post to let you all know that there is finally a real phone line up here in bright that the you can actually connect to internet from.
PS: Happy 18th Birthday for Jan For Today!!!
Today while just sitting in the library session 5 Addo, and i started pondering the history surrounding the Apple logo.. after a little research we turned up this interesting site.
PS: Apparently Jan makes Home Porn Videos with his GF.
Today was interesting. i woke up to find that low and behold the next generation ipod (G4) had arrived in the form of a leaked magazine cover from Newsweek
Anyway after a lot of reading today here are the facts so far:
The next-gen iPod is supposed to have a battery life of 12 hours, roughly a 50% improvement over current models, is one millimeter thinner, new menus, multiple playlists, a variable speed control for playing songs faster or slower (iPod DJs are gonna love this), and drop in price of a hundred bucks (the 40GB will cost US$399, the 20GB will cost US$299, and there won’t be a 15GB model). No 60GB model, apparently, though that could change in a couple of months when Toshiba’s new drives start shipping.
If anyone is interested in reading the Newsweek article it’s here. (if that aint working see my pdf copy.)

In other news i have been ebaying a lot these last few days. even going as far as to sell my first item via ebay. As well as buying assorted goodies for the new digital camera.
Its back to school soon. and for some reason ive been really tired lately so im going to go now.
Laterz.
today i went around a few or the more well known stores to sus out pricing for a few accessories for my new camera. Namely a 512MB CF Card and a USB2 CF Card reader.
After a lot of walking and not alot else i have come to the conclusion that retail stores such as Ted’s, Hardly Normal and DCE all suck. there priceing is just so out of line its not funny.
If you feal like doing an exercise i suggest you jot down the general prices for a few well known items that DSE or Hardly Normal stock and compare them to what you can find on the internet.
FFS Hardly Normal who in there right mind would pay you $699 for a 1gb CF Card. when they can be had for as little as $340..
anyway to cut a long story short, i was looking @ CF Card’s today. I decided to go with a Sandisk 512MB Card and went looking @ prices. they are as follows:

Online:
The difference is quite astounding don’t you think.
I have an excuse. Since last Friday have been away up in Bright. A place where it is surprisingly hard to get into the internet.
Anyway i have been playing with my new digital camera somewhat and have posted a pic of how the house is coming along(where?).
It is kinda boring up there without the internet so hopefully by the next time i end up going up there telstra will have got round to connecting the real phone line.
I did however manage to entertain myself by watching Scrub’s a US Hospital Comedy series. I personally yesterday watched the entire Season 3 of the show in one day. That is 21 x 21min episodes. thats 441 minutes of show or about 7 hours of one show in one day. Enough to say i like the show.
PS.. if anyone want’s somthing cool to check out today take a look at “THE SUPER MEGASON IV” review.
The last few days have been flat out. I have over the last few days touched nearly 20 machines as i get into the full swing of PSS.

Today saw me culminate my day with a trip to Curry Printing in Mornington to get business cards (pdf) done, which are by all means are looking good.
I was also there to help them with some of there machines (all apple) which were not working quite as well as they would like. with there G5 1.6 requiring a clean install of OSX, that will be done some time next week out of business hours.
As some of you might have guessed there are a huge number of people out there that need help with little thinks that just quirk them up the wall. And there quite willing to pay someone to help them resolve the issue.
The Starting of the Corporate identity also serves as a useful way of getting money from friends of the family for services rendered that would otherwise just be put down to your relationship. Its nice being paid for your work, even if it is at some times challenging.
In other news we have finally got the Canon IXUS 500 Digital Camera from our friends up at Clive Peeters. I haven’t had a lot of time to test it out yet but i have handled it enough to say that its an impressive unit.
Well this weekend (friday) was spent traipsing up to Bright to our now nearly completed holiday house, to firstly get the Phone Line connected by Telstra and to get the wood floor looked at by the builders insurance company.
Isn’t it strange how people, (or company’s for that matter) never do what they promise to do.
We rocked up to the house about 2pm after our 4 1/2 hour drive up from our place to find an apologetic letter and a big cardboard box sitting on the doorstep clearly marked with Telstra.
Upon closer inspection of the package and its contents its use became apparent. Telstra had been unable to connect the phone-line to the house because some wire (about 5m of the stuff) had not been run under the ground from the our properties boundary into the nearest Telstra Junction Box.
This 5m of wire would create a 30 day delay in the connection of the fixed line and the contents of the box was Telstra’s remedy for the delay. In the attached letter they referred to the box as a “Temporary Fixed Line Replacement Service”, which consisted of an Ericsson F221m unit and a standard telstra rental phone.

The F221m is basically a mobile phone on steroids. A mobile phone with a land line number, and the need to draw power from a power-point, as well as a 5m Microwave arial that mounts onto the window.
Now this sounds fine, and for all intensive purposes it is, however a dial-up connection can not be established over the connection due to GSM compression or some crap, so i was stuck up there once-again without any internet connection.
The Second Major annoyance was with the insurance inspector, who just didn’t show up. So in actual fact there was no reason whatsoever for us to traipse up there.
